THE EARLY TASKS FOR THE EARLY ONES
By Allen Yuarata, Philippines
Outdoor Activity, Pagtatap Youth Camp, Malumpati Cold Spring, Pandan, Antique, Philippines In every challenge that we encounter, in every "onus" that lies ahead, there is the need for responsibility, strength and intellect. That is why the Pagtatap youth managed to surpass the tasks given to them during their youth camp 2005 at the Malumpati Cold Spring Resort.

To begin, the morning of the 27th of May was intense. The Pagtatap youth gathered around the hanging bridge for their first task. All were filled with anxiety and curiosity. There were two rings that we had to pass through without touching them. This task required a lot of strength and brainstorming. Group II went first with signs of nervousness and worry. Incredible though it may seem, the group managed to complete the dare without any mishaps. After that, Group I showed speed and strength in easily completing the venture.

The next challenge was scary. It was the rappelling activity. Everyone was nervous, but this was no place for quitters. One by one, we all went down the Malumpati bridge firmly gripping the rope, and we all made it.

Though everyone was tired and cold from the water, the group did the final game, which was the tug-of-war. This game was fervid due to the terrifying strengths of both teams. The glaring sun and dusty ground added to our spirit of fun and competition.

So you see, even though the tasks were hard, the Pagtatap youth easily surpassed them all. It is not through strength that one can conquer obstacles but through determination and hope. Just accept what is laid before you and fate will come to you. As some would say, what's to come will come, and there's nothing you can do about it. The important thing is to have the determination to meet the challenge, try your best and hope for success.
