THE PERSONS BEHIND THE YOUTH CAMP
By Ma. Rosvil C. Ausan and Franco Louie T. Magpusao, Philippines
Outdoor Activity, Pagtatap Youth Camp, Malumpati Cold Spring, Pandan, Antique, Philippines The PAGTATAP Youth Camp's success is owed to the people who shared their time and meticulously molded the young individuals that are supposedly heirs of their community. The PAGTATAP Youth Coordinator, SB Raymund V. Gumboc, spearheaded the event. He and his volunteers instilled in us the spirit of dedication and commitment as youth volunteers.

Our camp director, Mr. Medsil C. Carillo, is the Boy Scout of the Philippines Division Scout Coordinator of Aklan province. His able assistant, Mr. Alex B. Pamatian Jr., trained our bodies with outdoor and team-building activities and also nurtured our minds with a sense of duty, mind boggling games, and scout ethics.

Completing the training staff were Pandan public school teachers and Rover scout members Ms. Ma. Franly B. Velasco and Ms. Alona Rubite, along with volunteers Ma. Fe S. Espartero (former PAGTATAP Youth President, Julius Unlayao, and Arvy M. Ocheda.

Our first resource persons were Mr. Malven Avenido and Ms. Mimi Antonio, facilitators from the Diocesan Commission on Youth (DCY) of Antique. They enlightened our minds with spiritual morals and helped us to know ourselves and our community better.

Our camp director discoursed on the essence of volunteerism. His talk was supplemented by Mr. Kevin Gibbons, a Peace Corps Volunteer from Florida, USA, who gave us serious lectures in our native dialect. Our contribution as youth volunteers is indeed a step towards greater awareness and cooperation in our community.

SB Raymund Gumboc, Pandan, Antique, Philippines Our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Plaridel E. Sanchez VI, discussed with us proper solid waste management and segregation of garbage in order to conserve our environment for the future and to maintain its ecological balance.

The last talk was about PAGTATAP Youth's core values, which was tackled by SB Raymund V. Gumboc. He talked about the values that will shape the personality of PAGTATAP youth, which are: being responsible, God-fearing, optimistic, versatile, proactive, and a nature-lover.

The activities, experiences, ideas, and morals shared by our facilitators with us will surely remain in our hearts and minds. They will help us develop a well-rounded personality, give us a sense of pride and the feeling that we are a gift to our community.
