WHY THE NAME BULALAKAW

By Sofie E. Hofmann, Switzerland

Indeed, why Bulalakaw, of all the names in this world? The group has always been mentioning about our ancestor, Bulalakaw Tumaka, that is the reason. I thought, why not call the newsletter, Bulalakaw, after all the meaning of the word itself connotes something very enlightening. Bulalakaw sounds very Filipino and very eye-catching.

Just after Edgar Rodillon suggested the newsletter, I immediately came up of the word and did a format. I could not sleep anymore because ideas were just pouring in inside my mind. Temporarily, the newsletter was called Bulalakaw. I showed the format to the "Kyapnets" and they like it especially the name Bulalakaw.

I would like to quote one of the "Kyapnets" Ms. Rose Gonzales Swartz who wrote:

"I love the name "Bulalakaw", a meteor, a shower of meteors, a brilliant shower of ideas & thoughts coming from all Pandananons. Nakakita takun it magnificent display of meteor showers: 1st in NY, then last year here at California. We stayed late in our friends' cabin in the mountains here & waited all night long for these meteorite showers & it was all worth the wait! It was a dazzling display of light, the beautiful sight was so fleeting! Daw bata takun nga nagasa-ot-sa-ot kag magsiringgiyaw sa kanami nga taran-awon, bala haw! Truly a work of God, to give us such a natural display of brilliance & wonder!!!"

What do we usually do if we see some meteors or shooting stars falling from the sky? We make a wish! Indeed, wishes and dreams came true for all of us and still will come true. With all the projects that we are having right now, everything is so wonderful. Bulalakaw, which means meteor or shooting star in English, is a light for all of us. A meteor lights our path, that everybody is thinking aloud and in the save wavelength.

Say what you want! Write what is on your mind! Here in Bulalakaw!
