BREATHTAKING MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE

I was still dreaming. I was still sleeping like a sweet little angelic baby in her crib. The sun was still hiding and recovering from his deep sleep, but the roosters were already calling our names. I woke up and got up early at dawn. I feel like crawling back to bed. Well, it was April 22, year 2000, Saturday and we were on for an exciting nature discovery.

Mt. Mab-o Mountain ClimbersI just took some oats for breakfast and smelled the aroma of the coffee that my sister was drinking. For one thing, I do not drink coffee, be it espresso or cappuccino or whatever they call it at Starbucks. After that simple meal, we picked up and carried our bags and off we go.

It was such a beautiful and serene Saturday morning. We dropped by Mimi's place and then walked along the quiet market of the town of Pandan. Probably, at least still half of the town folks were still lying in their beds.

We arrived at the meeting place and after few minutes, we joyfully rode in the jeep. We were quite so hilarious during the ride, talking aloud, shouting, joking and laughing. Before we knew it, we were already in Malumpati, a very popular excursion tourist spot among the locals, where the water is cold coming from the spring.

By 6 o'clock in the morning, we started our adventure into the unspoiled wild forest. So I guess, you know now what time did we get up. To begin, we have to hike up. I felt like complaining already but I kept it to myself. We continued our journey. We trekked! We hiked! We walked along the dried river, as if it was just so easy. Then again, we hiked up and strode along the steep pathways very carefully. We have seen a lot of those millipedes along the way and they look so dreadful though they were small. Sometimes, we even have to divert to other ways because there were honeybees. Yet, we were all so excited to go on. We even have to cross a small river where the bridge, could not even be called a bridge because it was just a simple thin coconut tree and we have to pass through it one by one, or else take the consequence of falling down.

We have to climb hills several times and descend as well, after each difficult hike. Several of us had already cuts in their arms due to the plants like pineapples and other things alike that could cut your skin. Some have bruises because there were also a lot of rocks and stones along the way. I could already feel the pain in my toes. Seconds, minutes, and hours of trekking, hiking and mountain climbing until we finally reach our destination but we did not see anything at all except tall grasses and trees surrounding us. I asked, where the beautiful view of the mountain was. I just could not imagine that after such a long hike, we just sat there, talking and laughing. We were kidding each other because, we, who especially live near the sea, were looking for the sea, of course, we meant the view of the sea.
